Favorite Photos – Cabin in Southern Iceland

I spotted this cabin while we were driving between Hella and Hofn along the Ring Road in Iceland, while there for a week in August 2011. There are not many forests or trees in Iceland, so the concentration of them here caught my eye as they surrounded the triangular cabin. It seemed like such a picturesque place to live; in this area the homes were very spread out so there weren’t any neighbors. The view looked south across the flat volcanic plains, and depending on where exactly this was taken along that drive, beyond the trees and hills is Vatnajökulsþjóðgarður National Park, and one of the largest glaciers in Iceland. I could be very content living at a place like this, surrounded by the country’s breathtaking landscapes.
